“They told him, “Joseph is still alive and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt!” Jacob was stunned, for he did not believe them. 27 But when they related to him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to transport him, their father Jacob’s spirit revived.” – Genesis 45:26-27
In this passage we read about how God has turned Joseph’s pain and suffering which was initially inflicted by his family, into wonderful provision and highlights God’s providence. Joseph is now governor over Egypt and is able to bring his family into Egypt to give them a new home. God uses some of the world’s most tragic situations to bring about wonderful transformations. Joseph was able to bring his family into a rich kingdom. Similarly, in lent we look towards the coming of God’s Kingdom, inaugurated by the resurrection of Jesus. But, as for Joseph, the road is long and tiresome, obstacles gather in front of us. But the Saviour is not far away!
